The Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim
has an 800-year tradition in education that goes back to the first cathedral school established in Norway in 1210. Since that school opened its doors to a select few, university life in Trondheim has undergone many changes. NTNU was established in 1996 and merged the Norwegian Institute of Technology (NTH), the College of Arts and Sciences and the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology.
NTNU offers professional degrees, university studies, and interdisciplinary programmes of study and master’s degrees in English.

BI Norwegian School of Management has become one of the larger Higher Education Institutions in Norway and one of the largest business schools in Europe. BI Norwegian School of Management received, under the auspices of European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), the European Quality Label Equis in 1999. (European Quality Improvement System). BI is eligible for participation in programs authorized by the US Higher Education Act of 1965. The School is a member of the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD). BI Norwegian School of Management employs 700 people and has about 330 faculty members. Over 80 of Norway’s major enterprises within industry, trade and services are linked with The Norwegian School of Management BI through various co-operation agreements. Today the total number of full-time and part-time students exceeds 18 253. Mostly Norwegians and other Scandinavians, but with a growing number of international students from all corners of the world.

Folkeuniversitetet is Norway’s largest organiser of adult education. Every year, approximately 70 000 people sign up for one or more of the 6 500 courses. They have over 50 years’ experience and offer practical and theoretical trade-related education, language instruction and courses in cultural and leisure activities.
