Practical training for international workplaces
International recruitment does not end when an employee receives a work permit or arrives in Norway.
The way employees understand Norwegian working life, communicate across cultures, navigate practical systems and settle into a new country can have a significant impact on integration, collaboration and the overall employee experience.
Relocation AS provides practical, interactive workshops for international employees, managers and HR teams.
Our workshops draw on more than 30 years of experience supporting international employees and organisations in Norway.
For HR teams, international employees, managers and multicultural teams.
In-person and online delivery available.
What can we help your organisation with?
Our workshops focus on the practical challenges that international employees and their employers encounter before, during and after relocation.
Sessions can be delivered as stand-alone workshops or combined into a tailored learning programme.
Living & Working in Norway
Help international employees understand Norway faster
Moving to Norway involves much more than learning where to register or how to open a bank account.
Employees also need to understand how Norwegian workplaces operate, how people communicate, what is expected of them and how everyday life works.
This workshop provides international employees with a practical introduction to working and living in Norway.
Participants will explore:
- Norwegian workplace culture
- Flat hierarchies and employee autonomy
- Communication styles
- Leadership and decision-making
- Meetings and workplace expectations
- Work-life balance
- Building relationships with Norwegian colleagues
- Social norms and unwritten rules
- Norwegian public services and practical systems
- Housing, healthcare, schools and everyday life
- Common misunderstandings experienced by newcomers
Best suited for:
International employees, accompanying partners and groups of new hires
Typical format:
2-hour interactive workshop
Working Better Across Cultures
Why we click, why we clash — and how to adapt
People do not necessarily communicate, make decisions, handle disagreement or build relationships in the same way.
In international workplaces, behaviour that seems completely normal to one person can be interpreted very differently by someone else.
This workshop helps participants recognise these differences without reducing people to national stereotypes.
Instead, participants learn how to notice behaviour, understand what may be driving it and adapt their approach.
Participants will explore:
- Different communication preferences
- Direct versus indirect communication
- Different approaches to decision-making
- Fast-paced versus considered communication
- How people approach disagreement and conflict
- Expectations around hierarchy and responsibility
- Why misunderstandings escalate
- How assumptions influence our interpretation of others
- How to adapt communication without losing authenticity
The workshop uses practical exercises and workplace scenarios to turn theory into behaviours participants can use immediately.
Best suited for:
International teams, managers, project teams and multicultural organisations
Typical format:
2–3 hour interactive workshop
Hiring & Relocating International Employees to Norway
Practical training for HR and hiring managers

Topics can include:
- What to assess before hiring an international employee
- EU/EEA versus non-EU recruitment
- Skilled-worker residence permits
- Accompanying family members
- Immigration timelines and documentation
- Temporary accommodation

- Relocation allowances and policies
- Responsibilities of HR, the employee and the relocation provider

Why Relocation AS?
Relocation AS has supported international employees and their employers in Norway since 1996.
Our work gives us direct insight into the challenges international employees encounter — from immigration and housing to workplace expectations, family integration and everyday life in Norway.
Our team combines experience from relocation, HR, immigration, housing and international environments. Many of our employees have also lived and worked abroad themselves.
We therefore approach training from a practical perspective:
What actually causes problems?
What do employees misunderstand?
What does HR repeatedly need to explain?
And what can organisations do differently?
Relocation AS is ISO 9001:2015 certified and holds the EuRA Global Quality Seal Plus.
Workshops based on real experience
Our training is not designed around abstract cultural theory alone.
The situations used in our workshops are based on the types of challenges we encounter when supporting international employees and organisations in Norway.
The objective is simple:
Give participants knowledge and tools they can use immediately.
Talk to us about your team
Not sure which workshop is right for your organisation?
