Starting from 1st October 2025, a new electricity pricing model called Norgespris will be available to households and holiday homes across Norway. One can order this from 24th September 2025 here. Orders between 24th September 2025 and 1st October 2025 will receive Norgespris starting 1st October 2025. If you order later, you will receive Norgespris from the date you place the order. Your grid company is responsible for the Norgespris agreement, and you must contact them if you have any questions.
This model has been approved by the Norwegian Parliament and is designed to provide greater predictability and lower electricity costs, especially in southern areas (NO2 price zone), where electricity prices are much higher than in the north or east of Norway.
What is Norgespris?
Norgespris is a government-funded scheme that offers households electricity at a fixed price per kilowatt-hour.
From 1st October 2025 to 31st December 2026, the Norgespris rate is 0,40 NOK per kWh (excluding VAT). Costs for grid tariffs, taxes, and any additional charges from the electricity supplier come in addition.
Norgespris is an optional scheme, and households who wish to participate must actively sign up for it. The scheme covers households’ primary homes and holiday homes.
For primary homes, Norgespris is a voluntary alternative to the current electricity subsidy scheme.
Norgespris applies to electricity consumption of up to 5000 kWh per month per meter point for primary homes, and up to 1000 kWh per month per meter point for holiday homes.
If you exceed these limits, the excess consumption may be charged at the market rate or under different terms set by your electricity provider.
This fixed rate is substantially lower than typical spot prices in recent years and offers better cost control, especially during the colder months. Households that do not choose Norgespris for their home will continue to receive electricity subsidies.
The existing electricity support system (strømstøtte) provides 90% support for prices above 0,94 NOK per kWh (incl. VAT) on a time-by-time basis, up to 5000 kWh per month.
If a household orders Norgespris for their home, the meter point for that home will be bound to Norgespris til December 2026. At the end of 2026, all households who wish to continue using Norgespris must actively opt in again.
The agreement is tied to the electricity meter point (målepunkt) and transfers to a new owner if the property is sold.
What’s Included and Not Included in Norgespris?
Included:
- Fixed energy price: 0,40 NOK per kWh (excl. VAT)
Not Included:
- Grid tariffs (paid to your grid company, like Lnett)
- Any additional charges from your electricity supplier (e.g., monthly fees)
What If I Don’t Want to Join?
If you prefer not to join Norgespris, you can continue under the current subsidy scheme, which covers 90% of the cost above 0,94 NOK per kWh for household consumption.
Who Should Consider Joining?
In the NO2 price zone, one of the highest-priced electricity areas in Norway, most households will benefit financially from Norgespris, especially during autumn and winter months. You can find the price zones here: price zones | Statnett
This model is ideal for:
- Households with stable or predictable electricity use
- Those who want protection from price spikes
- Holiday homeowners who use power year-round or seasonally

Compare Norgespris
Compare Norgespris with the current electricity subsidy scheme. In the calculator below, which gives you an estimated result, you can see whether it would be beneficial to switch to Norgespris.
The calculator uses the average electricity price with the subsidy for today’s date and going 12 months back in time. Markup, grid fees, and public taxes are not included. The calculator also does not account for consumption beyond what is eligible for support.
